Here is what I want to do. For a song recorded in 24 bit stereo I want to record multiple different versions of the stereo track during mixdown, upload all of them to the PC, and go with the one that sounds the best after converting the .WAV file to 16 bit stereo on the PC.

So in a nutshell, I want to record virtual tracks for the ST stereo track but I have no idea how to do it.

I notice on the Edit --> Export menu when you export the stereo track called ST to a file, it has a section where you can pick a virtual track. That seems to indicate that the AW1600 supports virtual tracks for the ST track.

But when I go to record --> Mixdown I can find no way to record multiple "takes" of the stereo track during mixdown. Also when I look at the Track menu I can find no way to choose a virtual track for recording.

Can anybody who has used this feature tell me how you record multiple takes, ie. virtual stereo tracks of the same song during mixdown? Thanks.

Bill

Press the monitor button until you get to the stereo track page - you'll see it.

FYI - whatever stereo virtual track is selected when you last saved the song (in the song:list screen) is the one that will burn when you burn a cd of that song. There is a way to get the different stereo mixes on a single CD. Check out the "burning audio CDs" sticky at the top of the newbies and CD burner pages for how.

oops; Just reread your post, ignore that whole bit about putting mutiple mixes on a CD. Seems you have another plan. 8)

The answer is, one stereo track per customer. Once you save the track, it's whatever virtual master you use.

You can always make 7 copies of the project and assign a unique stereo VT to every version.

If you do this, delete all tracks except the stereo tracks from copy nr 1 (not the original). Then, optimize copy nr 1, make copy nr 2 - nr 7 of copy nr 1, not the original. It'll save you tons of space.

Thanks guys, I have got it figured out now.

Although I never would have thought you use the Monitor button.
