I scored this 'un on e-bay today. I could not resist after researching this company's products.

I needed a good switchable cardiod , omni , figure 8 mic for the mic collection. Kinda looks like a Blue. I have seen another similar mic called a Violet that is made in Latvia. May be a spinoff.

This looks like it does the serious business. I'll be waiting to hear how it performs.

Are you going to mic every string of the grand separately? :)

I have a CAD M179 (multi-pattern, non-tube) on my short list. I'd be interested in a review here when you get her in.

The same guy made me a sweet deal on a Cad Trion 7000 Ribbon mic as well.

Ah, now there's something I don't have in the cabinet...a ribbon mic. Cool.

I know about dynamic mics and condensor mics... what is a ribbon mic and where should I put it in the mic spectrum?

Very fussy , fragile , and sounds wonderful. It is a dynamic mic (phantom power will kill the ribbon) . It captures nuances similar to a good tube mic with alot less induced noise.
