Have any of you encountered interference caused by cell phones when you are at a live gig? I did a recording at a club. The playback has a constant repeating clicking and low buzz half way through. It disappears after a few minutes and never returns. When I played it for one of the musicians he says it was caused by somebody's nearby cellphone, even if it wasn't in use. Any thoughts?

I've had citizens band (11 meters) and the Ham band (10 meters) affected my live gear. Balanced lines are not affected but unbalanced cables of around 10-11 meters (27 feet) are perfect one wavelength antenna for these bands. I doubt a cell phone would affect live gear as the transmiters are quite weak and operate in frequencys that are very , very short in wavelength.

In Holland we use the 900 MHz, 1800 MHz and 1900 MHz band. When my cell phone is on, it "resynchronizes" to the network every now and then. You can clearly hear that through the monitors and in recordings. So, whenever I record something, I switch it off.

If the distance is more than a few meters, five or so, it's not a problem.
