Seriously, I'm going to try and not to.
I just bought a Violin for 3 hundy.
So it's an OK thing it will do.
I'm not classically trained a bit
My only intention right now is
to stretch and sustain and attack notes or
simple note progressions to overdub with each other
so serve as a big chordal coloring for a simple rhythm based
collection of music I am steering towards making.

So, after a long wind...
Any ideas how to record a poor man's symphony
with a poor man's mic in a poor man's living room?

Just point and shoot yes?
And more importantly..what do you think of this guy?

He's good.

On the other hand, when I see something like this, I always wonder if the child itself has the motivation to work so hard, or if it is pushed and thereby denied a normal childhood.

That's an excellent observation, Robbie.
My best guess is that he's got a rebellious side and likes his stuff
and probably has to deal with that tight assed world and pressure from 'mentors'.
