Having a bit of a problem getting a good sound from my Fender gd-47s
Its equipped with a fishman pickup at the saddle with no extra electronics. Anyone have a eq setting that might do it justice? The library eq. doesnt cut it at all.

mc's right, ya can mic it, but if you want/prefer to go direct, you might find it easiest to control shaping your guitar's tone with a dedicated preamp, and I don't mean fishman's thing. All you need is an eq stomp box...mxr, ibanez, boss...go for one with at least 7 bands. 10 or 12 best. Might find one used for 50 bucks or less (music store trade, pawn shop, eek-bay). Put the git into this, and the box into your g's (or amp's, or mixer's) input. Adjust the input's gain (level) as you would a volume control.

It works. I've used an mxr 10 band this way since I read Tom Scholz used an mxr 6-band as part of his signal chain when he did the first Boston album.

Wow. Was that almost 30 years ago?

Yeah, I was going to mention last night that I have Fishman electronics in my Martin, and no, I'm not in love with them....but after putting a small ART Levelar tube amp on them, they are recordable with good sound. I got to great sound once I mixed it with a mic on it.

I use the Behringer Aural Exciter on my Ovation (which as Ovations do, sounds RUBBISH on its own) and that somehow magically makes it sound very much warmer. The Exciter is part of the Psycho Acoustic programs on the DSP2024P.

art.

I use a Barcus soundhole woodie humbucker along with with traditional mic techniques mixed together.

I run the Fishman on my Taylor through the ART DPS II and a Bluebird mic through the Avalon channel strip. It really gives me a phat acoustic sound and I think that's kewl, or so the kids tell me...

On my newer Taylor with the expression system I don't have to do anything to get a good sound, just adjust it on the guitar and go. 8)

Thanks to all for their suggestions. Picked up stereo 12 band graphic eq. for future acoustic recordings.
