man, i've tried the matched pair of condensors on my martin D1R in the 3 traditional configurations and really didn't like any of them. too thin. i use my akg 3000 at about 7 inches away aimed just right at the end of the neck. this where i think get the richest sound. the D1R is a little lighter than say a D28 so less boomy so i can get away with a larger diaphram nearer the sound hole i guess. i have a lane pool pickup i sometime double with when finger picking but keep it mixed lower.
