Robbie. The SR16 also has the 2 AUX outputs. If you have the room on the G you can send drum information to 4 tracks.

Uncle Bob, in which way are they different - are they separate signals/sounds?

I did not, but I have to admit I didn't read the manual yet (the things I needed to do with it so far were pretty easy to find), so I should start by doing that.

Rob, when you are in 'drumset select' mode you will scroll through several options. Volume, panning, tuning etc. One of your options is whether the selected drum is sent to the main outs or the aux outs.

So say you want to send the snare to it's own individual track on the G. On the SR16 I would send it to the aux outs and pan it either hard right or hard left (let's say left here). That way your aux L output only is sending snare info. If you like to isolate your kick drum you can do the same with the aux R output.

Make sense?

Makes sense, Bob, thanks! I think it's a cool feature of such a small machine. Definitely worth looking into, it'll be usefull for me. For instance applying effects to a single drum.

Yeah, I think as far as rock music goes, kick and snare are 2 things you want to get just right.

I wish I knew...It could have been a midi in/out issue, or a channel issue, but I'm not sure, because I didn't systematically troubleshoot like I should have....I guess it teaches me a lesson.. It's all good for for the time being....Now I need to learn how to program the machine decently...I don't have a drummer's ear or feel and I don't want to spend an inordinate amount of time or I will lose my inspiration...

Any hints in that regard?

LOL. No, I'm not all that good at programming drums either. The secret I suppose is to sit down and focus on the drumming on records that you like. It's not easy being a one-man show eh?

My son, who is a drummer, has programmed (behnd my back) some really convincing tracks, though he uses his PC (drum machines are outlawed at Studio ChâteauNeuf...long story).

Yes, get a drum notation book. They make em for rock or jazz or country , or whatever style you want...... Then program in the beats from the book. Great way to learn your machine......

I've got some scans from a rock drum instruction book, give me a pm if you would like to try some of em . . ..
