As a programmer i have to ask this. Would n't it be handy to show the most recent post first? descending order means you don't have to scroll all the way down to read the latest replies...

I think that, outside of the stickies, the most recent post in each category is shown first.

depends...that's good if you're familiar with the topic, but I'm not sure how many people here stay abreast that way... personally, I like it...I wouldn't read book backwards...just me.

Ahh.. I see where we're going.

If you click on the little white box all the way to the right next to the most recent poster's name, you will get sent right to the bottom of the page.

Hi Dirk,

Every user can configure that for him/herself.

Click on the User Control Panel link (top right of the screen).

Choose Board preferences
Choose Edit display options
Choose "Display posts ordering by": time
Choose "Display post order direction": descending

That should work.

You only have to do that once. Found it in 30 seconds.

Besides, I think we understand the thread starter wrong. He's looking in the posts of one thread (he's referring to posts - not threads). I can only find what Bob is referring to in a list of topics. That is something different.

On some Usenet groups if you top post you'll be the subject of massive flaming, grilling, public ridicule and overly harsh words....

Having the latest posts at the top is just wrong -

Itd be like reading the end of the book at the beginning, or starting a nice meal with the cheese menu, or wearing bathing shorts in midwinter, or evolving backwards into single celled creatures....

in short

its not right :D

Richard

oops! Did not mean to step on any toes. It has it pro's and cons of course. In most cases both ascending and decending order is the best solution. I one can click on the top of the posts (thank you robbie) to make the ordering switch between the two.

If you read a thread you have not started it is practical to read from start to finish. If it is one you started or have been following for a while it is very practical to jump to the end ( or change the order arround ) to read only the last few replies. Thanks for the tips anyhow. I'll see where that gets me...

I changed the preferences thanks to the tips. that's better. I'd still like a toggle switch. I am tenacious once i get going. :) I need to be or i'll never make music that's worth the while.

Just watch out for that record button. I hear if you use it too much it might break. I wouldn't know.

The record button on my AW2400 is painted red. So I think this is a warning, better not to use it

Richard, I had to continually look on ebay until I found mine. If you just patiently keep an eye out on ebay (I think they have a UK one & some US ebay sellers will ship to you), you will find one.

In germany there have been some music shops some weeks ago you can buy them brandnew and sealed. They ship in europe. I can check this, if anyone is interested!
Here is one 60 km near my hometown http://www.ppc-music.de/de/anzeigeCartikelPPvkabtCPPartikelgruppeCPPwarengruppeCPPartikelnummerC0049234.html
