I have found a great piece of gear that helps me with the tone from my modeling unit. I use Vox Tonelab, Line 6 POD, and Yamaha DG Stomp and it greatly helps the tone and focus of each.

It is called a Harmonic Converger by Radtone. Before I got it my tone was good, but it still had really fuzzy lows and highs. But this unit really focuses the unit and makes it feel and sound more "tube amp" like. I am still amazed.

Also, it is not available at stores like Guitar Center, etc. You have to order it directly from the guy who makes it. (he is actually currently Neil Diamond's guitarist, but also has a long list of cd's he has played on).

Go read user reviews about it:

http://reviews.harmony-central.com/revi ... erger/10/1

Go to the website where it is sold:

This made a big difference in the quality of my guitar tracks.

Has anyone else got one of these? I would be interested in your comments if anyone does end up getting one. ;-)

It's a (passive) low pass filter with a roll off point somewhere between 4 and 6kHz. And a peak of up to 5dB at the same point. So you can do the same thing with two bands of the AW's EQ and save the ridiculous amount of money the guy is asking for half a dozen resistors and caps in a box.
