1) Just because you have 60db of phantom power doesn't mean you have to use it.

At first, I was standing about 16-20 inches away from my mic, cranking up the gain and the output in order to get -6db on the G and my vocals lacked depth and presence. By dialing down to 20db and moving in closer to the mic - maybe 6 inches or so, I get a TON more workalble vocals.

Well... my list is only at 1... but I think that's a BIG positive.

2) Just because your "tube pre-amp" has a tube, doesn't mean that it's a tube pre-amp.

Read your block diagrams to make sure of your signal flow.

yeah, i been using a presonus tube pre and have been very dissapointed with its noisy levels.
makes me remember that the yammy's premaps arent all that bad afterall
