The one in my 4416 is a comprehensive effects plug in board. The link (owner's manual) explains it better than I can. The Y96K board has taken it's place nowdays. I really like the triple tap delay and the reverb is better than the Yamaha effect engines. The EQ is far superior as well. It as well as a 60gig HD , and the MY8-AD board fill all my 4416 slots.

The Y56K board commands more money than most 4416's. It's that good.

Also it allows up to 5 separate effects to be chained together in addition to the 2 effect engines and separate delay page.
