I don't know if the work flow on the 4416 anything near that of the G, but I'd make the stereo mix, copy the stereo track to any paired track and pan both L and R of that paired track to centre.

It means you'll have to make the mix first so you can't hear the mono mix in real time while tweaking. Someone else may have a solution for that.

hello there,
i am not sure of the application you are trying to accomplish but ...
i use the auxes (1 thru 6) to send individual mixes to the headphone amplifier(s) so each player can have their own personal mix .. this configuation will allow you to complete your recording, mixing, editing .. without affecting anyone's personal mix ... just be sure to not backfeed the stereo mix into the auxes, listen to final mixes via the monitor speakers in the studio ..
hope this helps
cheers

Not exactly sure of the 4416, but on the other AW machines the lack of a mono collapse button with which to reference your mix's mono characteristics, is inconvenient.

You can route an AW stereo output through a small mixer, with a mono button, and get your reference that way.

Or you can do as Robbie suggests, once in a while during post production, to reference compatibility.

Is there a way to fold back both side of a stereo mix through a single Aux output, thus making it mono? I am not sure that could be done, as i have never looked at that as a possibility.
