HELLO FELLOW ENTHUSIASTS ...
I HAVE HAD AN ISSUE DURING THE LAST SESSION WHICH PUZZLED ME ... MAYBE SOMEONE ELSE HAS EXPERIENCED THIS ...
I WAS IN THE PROCESS OF MIXING DOWN SOME PREVIOUS RECORDINGS ..
WHILE LISTENING TO A 12 TRACK FOR LEVELS AND TONES, THE MACHINE "FROZE" IN THE PLAY MODE ... WHICH IS TO SAY , THE MUSIC KEPT PLAYING BUT NO BUTTONS OR CONTROLS WOULD FUNCTION .. NO TRANSPORTCONTROL, NO SLIDERS, NO BUTTONS, NO ROTARYS ... THE SONG PLAYED UNTIL THE END AND THEN CONTINUED FOR SOME TIME AFTER UNTIL I SHUT THE POWER OFF.
I TURNED IT BACK ON AND, OF COURSE, I LOST ANYTHING THAT I HAD PREVIOUSLY EDITED BUT... THE MACHINE WAS WORKING FINE....
IT HASN'T HAPPENED AGAIN BUT WAS WONDERING IF ANYONE ELSE HAS EXPERIENCED THIS HICCUP ...

Sucky situations for sure. Just out of curiosity, have you had any power surges or outages recently? I find that spikes in electricity can cause havoc on machinery. Saturday we were watching the television. All of a sudden the audio began dropping and raising uncontrollably. Then I realized we had a surge in the electrical earlier in the day. I unplugged the cable box and the tv and let them both sit unplugged for about a minute. Plugged them back and all is fine.

That would be my best guess.

The only thing I could suggest (but it won`t help you now) is to get into a habit of saving after every tweak to your song just incase it goes down again.
I had a power problem two weeks ago and lost quite a bit because it damaged my external 1TB drive which I save everything to, so I had to replace it, bummer but crap happens.
Hope you get your problem sorted.

T.

Whe have very reliable power so far but i save frequently anyhow and to make sure my main power strip has a surge protector built in. They are not that expensive and will protect against power surges and even lightning.

I DO NOT RECALL ANY POWER OUTAGES (OR SURGES) ... AND ALL EQUIPMENT IS PROTECTED VIA FURMAN SURGE/ POWER CONDITIONER ... BUT SOMETHING COULD HAVE GOTTEN THROUGH SOMEHOW ...
I TRY NOT TO HAVE THE SYSTEM POWERED ON WHEN THE WEATHER IS UNFAVORABLE ... WHICH HARDLY EVER HAPPENS HERE IN CENTRAL MAINE ... YEAH, RIGHT ...
ROCK ON THROUGH THE SNOW ...
MANY THANKS..
