hi guys i'm a newbie here, i'm interested in how to set up the monitoring with my aw4416? the omni out jacks what are they for? let's say that i want to set up a stage for my band and every instrument of the band want to have his own monitor with a different levels setup, how do i do that?
I mean let's say that a guitar player wants to hear him self more than the others and the vocal too , and so on for each member, is it possible? Thanks guys

You can accomplish what you want with the omni outs. Set up your mix and send each individual mix to its own powered stage monitor and you will be in business.

I am not an experienced 4416 user. I do know that the routing options on that machine are more complex than the other AW machines, but that opens more possibilities - so worth learning.

The aux channels are known as busses. A bus in the city carries passengers to their destinations. a recording bus carries multiple signals to a destination. The built in effects can be utilized on a bus ( or alternatively be inserted directly into an individual channel). If you assign the effect to a bus, each track will send a signal to that bus. The combined signals will then be routed through the effect and get sent to another bus - the stereo bus (where all signals are mixed) and become part of the soundscape you are attempting to build.

The 4416 has more busses than any other AW machine.

Do you have a manual for that machine? It is available here on this site. If you can't locate it, someone will post the link. ( I'm at work now so I shouldn't poke around here too long) You need to become familiar with the routing options for the machine. Read - ask - read - ask ....

I will download the info tonight if you want some help figuring it out. We can do that here or in a PM _ private message. Once you master it you will have many options from which to choose.

the eight auxes can be configured any way the operator chooses.
in your case, you can send 4 separate monitor mixes to 4 different players via the omni outs.
with an optional card, you could setup a 6 to 8 way monitor rig ....
initially, the 7 and 8 auxes are factory set to efx channels 1 and 2 respectfully. the effects inside the machine are quite good and you should spend some time investigating them. you can reroute the 7/8 auxes for other uses as the operator chooses.
i have been working with this console for about 8 months and i love it.
don't be afraid to ask questions from the forum or from me directly.
rock on

Hi guy's me again :).. Which additional card is required to set up a 6 to 8 monitor rig? and i've seen that there are presets for every instrument in the machine, i mean the eq presets how do i recall them? i mean for ex. the snare i have registered it and now it's time to adjust the eq, and when i went to do that i've seen that there are factory presets already done for each part of the drums i've tried to recall it but did not knew how..

don't have the link handy ( at work now so I can't surf to find it), but there will be a page on the Yamaha site that has a chart showing which cards work with which machines. If you can't find it, message back and someone here will jump in with the link.

hey vice,
to get a 6-8 monitor mix you will need a card that has analog outputs (MY4-da) then it is just a matter of patching the auxes to the appropriate route / output ..... just by inserting the card, the console may detect the card and patch it accordingly ... not sure tho'
you also may be able to patch an additional output via one of the analog inputs .... :-k
for the eq patching ....
press select (sel) of the moni channel (or input channel) you want to apply the eq
open up the eq library ... f2
use the jog wheel to highlight the eq you want to apply
press recall
you are done. =D>
you can use the factory presets or make your own and save them.
have fun !

tnx, now i have a new problem:( i can't manage to have more than one stereo track:(I need one stereo track per song so that i can make a cd... i dont know why but i tried to record a second stereo track other than the one that i have already for another song, but when i go to the mastering display i choose track at once or disk at once i go to new and i get just one song listed, the first one.. What am i doing wrong?
My method of recording a stereo track is this:

-i press the st button on right-up of the mixer just below the smaller display
-Press record and play buttons so that it register
-Press stop when the song is over
-go to song display and save
-go to mastering display insert a blank cd
-press track at once or disc at once
-press new

And the result is always the same i get only the first song:(
Now i have 3 more songs to master on cd and to get some little money for it but i cant.. What am i doing wrong?

I'm a G user so the 4416 may be different. You have to dial up the tracks you want to write to CD. If I had 3 track to wire, I would press new 3 times. This would show the same track 3 times. I would then highlight the 2nd track and use the jog wheel so the 2nd track was there. Then do the same for the 3rd track

Once you have 3 tracks the same showing. That's when you use the "JOG Wheel" to select the ones you want
