Someone in a previous thread mentioned how working with superior craftsmen can make one a better musician/writer...How true, as I've used this philosophy from day one (can't help it, there aren't many worse than me  )...

I'm a housepainter by trade. In the next town over lives a world-renowned acoustic guitarist by the name of Tim Sparks (Ignorant me had never heard of him til I met him), and I'll be painting his house in the next week...This guy is phenominal, with everything from good ol' mountain country and bluegrass to transposing classical music to guitar (he's done The Nutcracker, fercryinoutloud!).

So when we went to meet with him last week I casually mention that I'm a songwriter who plays a "little". I meant that literally, he must have took it as figuratively. He wants me to bring my guitar when we do the work on his house so we can jam...Of course I don't know any covers, just my own stuff (ok, I can play Blue Shadows on the Trail and some of Here Comes the Sun... ).

At his level of talent, as opposed to my lack thereof, I expect to come out of jamming with this guy a MUCH better musician and songwriter...And he'll come out with...A really nice paint job... :D

I haven't been in for a while, how's y'all doin?

Eric
