Ooops ! this is an older post. Still wanted to tell how i feel in this matter. Recently here in Belgium one fine female singer took it upon here to rerecord an entire album of another female singe that was very popular in late sixties and early seventies until she died. This one fine female now finds herself having no more room in here performance agenda. She has five songs in the top ten at the same time from this album and the stuff sounds wonderfull. I bet she's glad she did a dated thing. This kinda contradicts the whole issue here doesn't it? It's either that or the whole of Belgium is dated... Great music is just great music. Same thing goes for performers. ( and recorders too and ... )

Great music is great music indeed! (not kidding, I agree completely)
Now go write a nice 40's style ballad and try to get it on the radio! LOL.. you might get it on.

A song that's already been written and recorded and made a hit is easy to revive given the right perfomance, etc... I'm talking about writing a new one and getting a hit out of it. :)

I love 40's style dance bands and have written a whole swag of songs in that style. Doubt I'll ever get someone to record them and make a hit out of any of them - Michael Bublé are you out there?
