The best one over here, at least from a 'popular' science point of view, is probably New Scientist.

I used to read the paper based mag, but I haven't looked a lot at the website, so I have no idea about subscriptions etc.

I'd know "PM" a german magazine. I love that one, but it's more like "Science for dummies", but still, very interresting ;-).
