I have not connected microphones to AW16G yet. Since the spec sheets for mics list output impedance as an important fact, I looked at the 'G' manual for advice. It does not seem to recommend anything for impedance levels. For example, I am considering two very similar mics for purchase; one lists 100 Ohms as the OI and the other lists 200 Ohms. I really don't know how to make the considerations before spending.

The G has a phantom power switch if you're buying a condenser mic. Pretty much any condenser you buy when using phantom power should work great.

Above is a link address to a useful, one page discussion of impedence. Don't fret over the impedance really. As Ron said, phantom is available so most mid price condensers will work. Some mics require more gain from the pre amp and G's can get a little noisy when turned full up. If your store will let you bring a mic home or has a good return policy or perhaps a months rental are good ideas when bench testing before a substantial purchase.
