It just dawned on me. Correct me if I'm wrong here...........

The 2816 backup only works on one song at a time.

AW Extract only works on those individual 2816 back ups.

If the 20 disk set is the 16G format backup , then the files will have to be written to another G (or 4416/2816 which will read AW G files ) , then each song needs to be backed up individually via the 2816 backup to be extracted from the CD disk to the computer via AW extract.

Yup. Also, there could be more than (about) 20 songs and AW2816 format CDs if he saved more than one song to any of the G format CDs.

I'm getting ready to "hit the road" in a bit over a week, but would be willing to "resave" a couple of the G format CDs if uploaded somewhere I can get them via FTP.

Yeah i already thought about that which is why I was hoping to find somewhere to rent a G. Unfortunately I've had no luck.

By the way, the 20 cd's are 6 songs. yeah i know, I did a lot of layering.

Ok, now I'm begging for help. I know it's not very becoming, but I desperately need to get these data discs transfered.

Anybody?

20 discs is an awful lot of information. Maybe you should just grab a G off of Ebay for $300-400 and dump it when you're done.

Yes. There is something like AWExtract for Mac. I have a working copy on my Mac right now (I developed it) and it will be released very soon (maybe this week!)

Updates to follow...

Welcome to the forum, Jeff.

Definitely Newbie Of The Month stuff. I would be most interested to add that to the docs page http://docs.dijonstock.com.

:)

The basic (free) version will only extract audio from AW2816-format single-disk backups, but, even this should really help out a whole bunch of Mac users.

As soon as I finish the decoding for the AW16G formats, there will be a deluxe version of the software which will decode AW4416, AW2816 and AW16G backups, and will read multi-song, multi disk backups. This one will not be a freebie... probably $15, which is pretty cheap, especially considering that I've spent over a year decoding the Yamaha backup files.

If anything would take me time like that I'd send a bill, too.

The PC folks already have AWExtract. Which, although it doesn't do AW16G files, is a good piece of software.

You can make a backup on the AW16G in 2816 format to use AWExtract. However they do not contain your scene settings so you still need the regular AW16G backup.

Jeff made a little application to extract directly from an AW16G backup, called Gee Audio: http://forum.dijonstock.com/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=13928&p=151122&hilit=gee#p151122. I don't know if it's still available.
