To all members,

I read on the phpBB site that there have been - unsuccessful - attacks to hack phpBB forums. The bot that does this, needs the memberlist.

That is the reason that I denied looking into the member list for newly registered users. This way a bot can't see it and can't execute its plans.

Older members that haven't reached 25 posts yet are also a member of the Newly Registered User group. So I took away their right to see the member list. Obviously this is not part of the solution to that problem, but being a member of that group for a different reason sure is a side effect. In the end it is a matter of choice. There's only one automatic group and only one set of policies that applies to it.

Smart idea Robbie. Generally a noob most likely wouldn't be interested in a member list. They would be searching for questions about their G/1600/2400. Or in some cases, The AW16G is making my recording experience suck. :wink:
