Hi all,

As of May 25 a new European legislation about online privacy will become effective (DPA or, in dutch, AVG). This means that every organisation that handles data about people, have to meet far stricter criteria than before.

This may have its effect on the forum as it holds data of all its users (email addresses). It is not only a matter of good data protection but also about procedures etcetera. There probably are a number of things I have to do.

The result may be it makes no difference but it also might mean the end of the forum (not meeting the criteria may result in huge fines). Probably somewhere in between. This weekend I'll look into this to see what has to happen. I'll keep you posted.

cheers

R

As the world grows closer and closer together as a result of the internet, evil lurks. Not quite sure what new strict rules your legislation has in store, but it's probably warranted. I always knew during the infancy of the internet, more and more government intervention would happen. Not only for the good of the system, but for monetary gain. I'm sure they will find a way to tax the heck out of everything. How else can all the government officials afford to live in the lap of luxury?
