Just went back to punch in some vocals that were best done by a female on a song recorded and mixed some monts ago. involved six short bursts in three pairs - so three punch ins. The song had been mixed some months ago, using scenes. Couldn't figure out why my punching in was not happening, but quickly realized it was the scenes getting in the way. So .... to the Tempo Map - make a pencil paper list of the scene numbers - turn each scene off ( - ) - punch in - set the scenes back up in the Tempo Map - trouble shoot an error i made in my listing of scene numbers- find out the dynamics, EQ, level set in scenes don't work for the new tracks - set up a repeat loop to rework - grab control of fader for the track I'm working on- save the new parameters as dynamics/ EQ presets - call up each scene affecting new track and then install/ save new dynamics& EQ presets making sure fader's level is OK. - audition song - fader level not sitting well - grab control of the fader again - ride fader during new mixdown. ....

The point? Scenes are great, but generate an inordinate amount of work when it is necessary to modify aspects after the fact.

Sorry you didn't get it to work for you scooter - looking forward to hearing your work sometime.

Regards,

Byron

Geez Geno,

You look so much younger...I'd say at least 1 1/2 years...

P.S. I'll be in Austin May 15th thru 17th visiting old college bros...Just throwing this out there, but, we are getting together to play some music (think were gonna rent a small space) for old times sake on that Friday or Saturday night...'bout how far is da ranch from Austin?
Realistically, I know its a pipe dream to get together as we wont be travelin' any further than 6th St 8) , but if something were to transpire and you felt like shooting down and jammin' a bit, I'd love to meet ya...It's just me and two other buddies on guitar...I think you could probably show us a blues lick or twelve...for what its worth...salud.

the story of 'everywhere' as told by mike o:

'Everywhere' is the first songwriting result from a father/daughter writing/performance team. Michael Ososki approached his daughter April to write lyrics for which he might compose music. Being both strong believers in the truth of the message conveyed, her words inspired the music.
After April's first lyric draft, Michael came up with a rough melody and music. Then together, the pair ran through the refine/massage/supplement process typically needed to build a complete, cohesive modern pop song.
April sings lead vocal with Michael on guitar in this version, expertly accompanied by Michael Courter on bass and supplemental instruments, and Frank Valdez on drums. Michael C engineered and co-produced the piece.
The tune came very close to appearing on the 'Give US Your Poor' compilation CD with Bruce Springsteen, Bon Jovi, and other luminairies.
