Ok, one more thing.....

Bobby K, why have you been holding out?

Did I detect some Eagles influence there?

Excellent. 8)

That's funny. Everybody I've played that for has said the same thing. :? I probably think about the Eagles when I'm playing as much as Chuck thinks of Jerry Garcia but as they say, if it walks like a duck.... :P

thanks for the props

Bob...ya, we get the same thing with the tune "Once Around". Walter Becker of Steely Dan has actually heard that tune. We do respect Steely Dan's talent.

Yup, that's the one I'm thinking about. Well you're one up on me since it's safe to say that Don Henley has heard none of my stuff.

And Jerry Garica has heard none of my stuff and never will.

I was never a fan of the Dead or Jerry Garcia but I did appreciate what they were doing so it was kinda strange that they were even brought up in context with my music. I guess I've been influenced by so many musicians that it just pops out.

Sorry, if this makes no sense, I'm on day 3 of no smoking. ARRRRRRGGHGGHGHHH!!! Better now. OHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!! OK, now I'm fine. Jesus someone get me some heroin.

Ok, I've been listening to this for the better part of a week. I keep finding certain songs 'stuck' in my head. A couple days ago it was Stacy's 'kazoo' song. Yesterday, it was Chuck's 'I Believe'. Today, Jeffree's tune. This is cool stuff! I have a different 'experience' (that doesn't suck  ) everyday with it.

Nice job guys & gals!

I've only gotten quickly through two disks today, my first day, but let me state for the record that I think this comp is truly astounding. Every cut has something I like, something that makes me think "I want to try that",something that makes me smile. I'm not even checking the artists' names yet; I'll save that until I have some good imressions of the music.

In about a week, I"ll begin posting a couple of things I like about each track. Later, if anyone would care for a PM exchange, I'd also be glad to hear anyone's suggestions for my track and offer mine in return. I just want to keep learning.

Well, first impressions in music matter a lot to me, and this comp delivers. I'm already inspried to do more, and I'm damned proud to be in such fine company. When I stop to think that many of us have full-time jobs and wives or husbands, and some even with kids... I'm floored.

J.

Thanks for the kind comments 61.

The intro was done on guitar with delay. He just screwed around with harmonics and his whammy bar.
I've found that listening to the music with a good pair of headphones gives you a cool perspective of the production techniques used by everyone. Maybe not the intimate details, but a different feel than speakers, nontheless.
With the overall quality of the recordings, I would venture to guess everyone contributing is more than competent with our little gem.
I am tempted to ask a few of you "how'd you do this?", but some mystery is a good thing when it comes to music.

Really great job everyone.

Tony

It gets better and better with each listen, well done folks, you clever people you

The production on a lot of the tracks just blows me away, and the different styles of music is what makes this (and last years G cd) a fantastic listen..

Need to find time (and vodka) to sit down with pen and paper to get my review in, though be prepared for the words 'great' and 'excellent' cropping up a lot.

We should all be very proud of ourselves.

Excellent job Robbie, youve done us all a great service, and they were hard shoes to fill after Randy's superb 2004 cd.

I hope to have my review of the things I like about each song on disk 2 later tonight. One does indeed find these great gems after several plays. One thing I can say for sure, I doubt I could ever select a favorite as they are all so different really. I like something about every tune.

Actually I have size 13.5  But, so to speak, it were the artist who handed me the gems to fill 'em.

For whatever its worth...these are the things I liked about each song on CD2:

Zombie Slave:Hard driving--excellent song for a live show
Mousetrap: Unreal production value--great vocal line and concept--love the sophistocation with the timing...really good.
Angel With Bearfeet: So relaxing and really cool singing-love that cazo for that real classic sound and the lyric is excellent.
Talk to Me: Very sincere sounding vocals -another relaxing and pleasing song. Like a fine wine sound.
Money: Good production and very intriguing intro--captures the imagination fast.
I Brought My Wallet: You can tell by my Bio--I am a Beatles guy all the way..this is a cool alteration that is quite fun to listen to. Good playing.
You Always Look: Excellent intro..good vocals--very moody tune that would fit in any listening environment. I like the instrumentation.
On The Beach With You: Great production...very deep feeling-nice jazzy/funky mix. Good love making tune!
Don't Leave Me Here: (My buddies)
Goodbye: Good production, good vocal..funky bass line, a very happy song.."oh ya"-This is a feel good song.
Table For One: Good keyboards..rocking tune--another good song for a live playlist. I could relate to the lyrics--almost had that table for two!
Do So Still: This song is unreal Paul McCartney. Its excellent song writing and composition. Great sound and vocals. This song could go on Paul's Flamming Pie CD. The change to the chorus is extremely well done!
Evil Woman: This is the B3 blues tune that makes the blues world go around. Very sultry sound. The vocal is very emotional. Nice rendition with your added touches.
One Man's Band: Great into--very punchy-good melody line--very bouncy and catchy. Fun tune to hear.
Caravan of Love: I can't believe Robbie did this as space filler! It is very cool and not one of us would have attempted such a vocal track Strong message and catchy phrasing. It shows your wide vocal range and talent.
This song was a huge surprise and not expected at all. Good production.
Drum And Bass: Excellent funk bass and intro--it pulls you right into the song...nice transisitions. Good production. Like the harmonics on the bass which are not easy to get.

Another fine CD...wonderful!!

Rich, you didn't review your own tune.

So, I will :-)

Don't Leave Me Here, is one of my favs on the whole Comp-CD. Very catchy, with an excellent lead vocal.
