You can always do what I just did: Go on a pleasure cruise. Take the wife to the airport for a long weekend.

Itchycoo Park, may never see the light of day. I'm having a tough time with the vocals, having recorded the song in the original key....which isn't a very good one for my very limited vocal range. So, I've parked it for a while, and I'll go back to it again down the road and see if I can fix things up.

In the meantime, I've recorded a version of Al Stewart's 'Song on the Radio' for the Sweet 16 Comp CD. Still some tweaks to do on the tune, but I'm happy with how it's coming along.

If you can't do the vocals, I'd love a Utah (instruments)/Sleepy (vocals) collab.

I vote YES!

262 days now, Robbie.

What have you been doing for past 18 days besides eating cheese and sneaking out of the house to smoke cigars?

I started my song. After 6 tracks, I've come to the conclusion I need to start over. Oh well.

LOL,
I started a song yesterday, got halfway through it with bass, piano, strings, drums and lyrics and then scrapped the whole thing. Must have been in the air...

I was watching a program on television this morning before work. There is a guy who writes and records his own music and has made 2 cd's. He said he averages 140 tracks per song. He uses Pro Tools or the like and layers everything. He sometimes has 30 vocal tracks for just his lead vocal.

I had that reaction ( to scrap everything ) yesterday, after listening to my cover of 'Song on the Radio' for the 100th time in two days.....lol. I'm hoping it just needs some fresh ears, so I'll give it a week or so before I listen to it again. Hopefully, I'll feel differently when I do.

That's nothing!

I started a song 3 years ago and forgot about it until a couple of days ago.

All of a sudden, RZ and Jeff Hanson have become track numbers challenged!

Ute,
Itchycoo park...cooool! ... also very difficult....i'd still rather hear your version of it over the Al Stewart tune...always thought "Song on the Radio" was Al without the calories... how about Nostradamus, or Carol??? :D :D

Don't scrap your efforts!

Take a month or two out before you listen to it again and continue.

Hi Guys

After a couple of years of noshow on the forum, and following a nudge from the Admin, I've logged in and found that there's a Comp CD in the works! Reading the posts, there were 280 days left from April 14th. Can I contribute...... please? The contributions are covers of songs recorded in the 50s, 60s or 70s?

It's good to be back!

Hi Trecelyn,

Good to see you back! Of course you can contribute to the Comp CD, we'd love you to do so.

What are you going to cover?

Nice to see you again, Trecelyn!

The deadline isn't until year end, so you have plenty of time to record a cover.

Looking forward to hearing it!

Randy

Thanks Randy and Robbie. The rate I'm working at I'll be lucky to get the drum tracks down by the end of the year. Not sure what to cover. I was thinking of Ain't no sunshine by Bill Withers. Does that qualify?

Best

T

This song sure qualifies you to do a compilation.
Good luck with the drumtracks!
