I'm willing to organize another Dijonstock Comp CD that would only accept cover renditions of songs that were originally recorded in the 1950's, 1960's, or 1970's.

1980 Hair Band covers are not allowed!

Are any of you up for this challenge?

Hi,

ok, let me cover "Little Willie" from "The Sweet"?
70s, curled hairs and plateau shoes ..

Just kidding. I like the idea. Seems nearly all of the covers my band is playing will fit for this.
Count me in ...

Andreas

Now THAT is a cool idea.

But there's one problem. It would be your third. I wouldn't want to ask you to put your resources in for a third time. I know by experience that producing a compilation CD easily takes about $15,- per piece, postage included. So, either we find a solution to cover that, or it should, as mentioned earlier, be available online.

What's the closing date?

I'm in! Hey why don't you set up a paypal for donations? I'd be happy to throw 10-15 bucks your way. You shouldn't have to pay. Man I cant sing the song I want to do.... better start on the 10000000 takes now.

About 15 dollars contribution via paypal would be totally OK with me too.

Do you care if the covers are really different than the originals or do you want to make a CD that sounds like it's from the 50's etc? Would be interesting to try to recreate the sounds huh? Either way.

I'd say that would be up to any contributors imagination. One should be able to clearly recognize the song though. Just my thoughts.

I'd love to give this a shot. Never tried it..a complete song that is.. lol.

I think the Paypal thing is a great idea as well. =D>

I'm with Beer, maybe a little more definition on what we're looking for?? I'm more partial to some sort of 70's jam, myself. But hey, I'll go with the flow.

Are we talking "Top 40" type stuff? Or maybe a little off the beaten path? Or something you recognize by the end of the 1st measure? Um, not that you'd recognize my mess...

but I'd love to see what I could accomplish, sort of a goal. 'Cause I ain't gettin anywhere with 2 minute loops..

I need 'afocus...danielson.

8)

I'm glad that there is interest in doing this type of Comp CD.

Once again there isn't any need for Paypal. Your music is contribution enough. The final CD would be made available to particpants and mp3 files made available for non participants.

Your contribution should be a cover of a song that made the Top 100 Billboard chart and your cover doesn't have to be an exact rendition. Put your own personal spin on it or collaborate with other members.

There isn't a rush to get this done quickly, so a Dec 31, 2009 deadline date is okay with me. That gives everyone plenty of time to get 'er done.

I'll post details later on where to email your wave files.

Ok? Now get to work. :)

heh i worked flat out over the weekend trying to get something ready, but it's good to know i can slow down a little now. (i did a mediocre version of 'baby blue' by badfinger) - i aim to do about 3 or 4 and pick the best one of those to submit, if indeed there is a best one

Sounds like fun! I like the idea of a covers only comp CD, and I'd like to contribute something to the project.

I'm in.

Let me see if the Everly Brothers ever made it to the Top 100 (duh).

Or are we not going to say in advance which song we're going to cover?

BTW Randy I insist in a proper 100% coverage of your costs. I remember what the total expenses were for the 2005 comp CD, the postage alone was good for a cross-atlantic plane ticket. I preferred buying stamps, though. :)

I second that. Just let me know my "cut" and it'll be on it's way via Paypal whenever you like. I honestly wouldn't feel right otherwise. Too much work involved already, let alone money shelled out.

man, I hope the studio gets done soon...I'm gonna need all the time I can get!

Hi,

like all guys said, its a great pleasure to do a contribution and you Randy have so much work with it. So you dont have to pay the immense cost for us.

BTW: has the german beer package received you last year?

Andreas

it might be an idea to mention what songs everyone is looking at; we don't want an entire CD full of Stairway to Heavens...
