Hey Bryter, how good to see you again!!

Happy 2009 to you and yours and I hope you'll keep on popping in from time to time.

How's the music, recorded anything lately?

Hi RZ, Robbie.

Happy new year to you and all as well :)

All fine thanks, no new music really, not sure if I've written a complete song in over a year. Must try harder, but with all these modern distractions like sofas and Tv's its hard to drag myself away from them. :)

Keep well.

Back at you. Robbie!

I had a problem this evening uploading a new file to my site and then I discovered that my entire site and all related links are down.

I do not check into the status of my site on a regular basis, so I have no idea of how long it has been down.

This isn't the first time that I have had a problem with bravenet.com as a hosting service, but it will be the last time.

I opened a "help" ticket (only avenue of contact) to inform bravenet that there has been a breach of contract on "their" part and that I expect a prorated refund and retention of my domain name to freely host elsewhere. BASTARDS!!!!

I paid $$$ up front and they have failed to live up to prvide the service they were being paid to do.

It was important to me to have these mp3 files available to everyone.

I apologize for the interruption.

I had a similar experience using a very cheap hosting service. It became clear to me why they were so cheap. So I removed everything of importance from that hoster.

DijonStock.com was hosted there in 2006 :S

I remember checking the 2008 comp CD files not too long ago (about a month ago or so - I don't exactly remember) and at that point it worked.

The Dijonstock forum was orignally hosted by Bravenet?

I never knew that.

I've been less than satisfied with Bravenet for the past two years.

I hate the fact that the only means of communication with Bravenet is to open a "help ticket".

This is the third or fourth time I've had to open a "help ticket" and it will be the last time.

I recieved an automated response but there was no acknowledge to my request for a monetary refund or a release of my domain name back to me as I had requested.

Have you ever had the feeling that the internet is run by robots?

No, not bravenet but a similar hosting service. Cheap in every meaning of the word.

Dont know about hosting a forum, but I have been more than satisfied with the program I use called Homestead.com. My biggest concern was the amount of space alloted. However I just noticed an increase in disk space to more than 5 gigs. Band with seems to be 100 gig.

My biggest concern has been ensuring that the Comp CD mp3 files are available.

The problem I have had with Bravenet is the up and down times of service.

I have had frequent problems uploading files and interruptions of service.

The account I pay for allows for 30 Gigabyte of disk space and 600 Gigabyte of bandwidth which in my estimation is fairly large...don't ya think?......but what good is it when the host can't be depended upon to operate 24/7?

Bravenet finally did respond to me by asking me to cite a particular violation on their part of their TOS that they may have violated.

My response to Bravenet today was:

“It appears that Bravenet chooses to play a game of words with me and invites me to cite a particular violation by Bravenet of their so called Terms Of Servive which reeks of vagueness when Bravenet fully knows that it's impossible for me or anyone to cite anything specific written in complaint of Bravenet's TOS as it is written and worded.

The fact that Bravenet isn't willing to acknowledge the problems I have had uploading files on many occassions and that access by others to my site and files has been interupted many times for no explicable reason and is simply to be expected is unacceptable.

Bravenet appears to be an automated service as opposed to being managed by people who actually care about their customer base.

So be it.”

It appears Bravenet didn't like my response to their response. I received my credit card statement today and they had issued a partial credit and they closed the site.

The Comp CD 2008 mp3 files are no longer available at that site.

Robbie, you might as well go ahead and close this thread.
