I was out at Harmony Central looking at video from the 2001 NAMM Show. They have video of the Yamaha AW2816 Audio Workstation, ToneWorks Pandora PXR4 Pocket Studio, and Boss BR-532 Digital Recording Studio.

When I look at the original cost of each of those units, then compare them to their counterparts that exist today and see how much more functionality you get and for how much less it's amazing.

Now granted, the G doesn't have motorized faders, but I would trade that for the smaller footprint anyday.
