Some people claim they can hear what type/brand of bass is used when they hear it.

What do you think, is this possible?

If so, can anyone tell me what bass was used on Elton John's "Nikita"?

LOL,
I freaking love this song.... I'd bet it was a keyboard if I was a betting man. Possibly a Roland JV.

Really? I'd be embarrased if so (and rightfully so). Still would want to know, though. It does have an appealing sound.

It's too early for a JV.

OH yeah, that would seem the case! However, I did a little digging and it seems there's a bass player attached to that part! His name is David Paton. More info to come...

I've emailed David...
I have to say, listening closely to that bass part, the notes are so exactly played...it sounds like a sample! Nice job David!
Hopefully he doesn't Hollywood us and we'll have an answer.

Looking around his site...the answer may just be a Music Man bass...

Whooo hooo hoo it's Magic! You knooowwww..... wish I had written that one. But David did...grrrrrrr!

Yeah I did the same Beer. I found Paton had played bass on Nikita and he mainly played Music Man. He's been around for sure.
