Guys - PLEASE can someone help me??

Turned on my AW1600 just now and the screen just shows green, no text, and the usual sound of the hard drive starting doesnt happen!

Has this happened to anyone? Is all my work lost (I FORGOT TO BACKUP LAST 2 MONTHS!! AAAAAAAAARGH!)

Any experience or fixexs or advice anyone has would be REALLY appreciated - I so can't afford everything i've done to be wiped

The lack of hard drive spinning up is troublesome, but you may be able to recover your files from the USB to PC connection ...someone will come along soon that may have a solution... Seems like Hogtime just answered a question similar to this...

P.S. First check to see if your contrast knob didn't get accidently turned down...don't have the unit in front of me, but its the little round button(black?) next to the screen...

If it doesn't help, unplug your machine from power and leave it that way or a longer period of time. Then, retry.

Hey Guys

Contrast knob not the prob, unplugged everything last night, tried again this morning and still blank green screen.

Nightmare!!!!

Anyone else had this happen before and know of a fix?

Hm. Taking your remark about the typical startup sound into consideration, it looks like the machine isn't booting properly.

Things you could try:

1) Take out the harddisc and connect it to a PC. You probably won't be able to see a regular file system (although the G's FS may differ from the 1600s FS), but you should be able to see/test it with some software tools.
2) Reload the OS - however I don't know what will happen to your projects. On the docs page http://docs.dijonstock.com you can dowload the latest OS release.
3) You can swap the HD for a new one and retry to OS reload. This way you'll know wether or not the HD is faulty.

Any more ideas anyone?

you haven't said if you've ever hooked this AW up via USB to PC. I assume you have if you have been backing up, as this is the most efficient. So, since the trouble, have you hooked up to a PC?
