Maybe Lys can help here.............

Is there a decent FM soft synth out there ? Something easier to program than a DX-7 ?

Not sure if I'm in the ballpark, but I've tried some of these ... you can demo them ...

I currently have Native's Pro53 as my retro synth...http://www.kvraudio.com/get/53.html

But not being a programmer, I have no idea if they are easy or difficult to work with...

On a side note:

If you remember, my Alesis Micron LCD died on me a month or so ago...anyway, Alesis support emailed me that they have the LCD available for $37...The unit works fine as a controller, and it functions fine as a whole, but I'm still not sure if its worth the risk(no warranty) of trying open it up and solder etc... I've probably only soldered once or so in my life, and that was in Cub Scouts :D

I imagine that sending it in for service would be to much time and money...finding a qualified local service tech might be to much dough also...over $100...I bought it used for $250...

Opinion?

Geno: just treat yourself to NI's Komplete - FM 8 comes with that and is so easy to modify sonically that even I can do it  Even though all I do is screw around with the presets, it's a doddle!
