I learned about this from a post on homerecording.com

An SSL Compressor emulation plugin.......FREE.

There is a hinderance "registration" required to get the free download. It takes about 1 minute.

The plugin is frickin' fantastic. I played with it on drum overhead tracks (as suggested on the SSL page)....OUTSTANDING! Tames the peaks but let's the good stuff through.

No sweat bro', even a blind squirrel like me finds a nut every one in a while. This ones a good 'un isn't it? Awesome for compressing the shit outta a drum submix or a snare that you really need to "crack". ..... and ya can't beat the price!
