I would like to be able to record from an audio CD onto my 16G but I'm obviously doing something wrong. I recorded a song a few years ago at my friends studio but it is too quiet. If I can get it onto my 16G I'm quite sure I can boost it to make it as loud as my other songs. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Jeremy,

What seems to be the problem ? You can connect the output of your cd player directly to the inputs of the 16G or you could put a small mixer in between.

There are several ways to amplify the files of your CD but remember that if you do it by just amplifying you will also amplify any existing noise on the track. You do'n really need your G for this. A free program like Audacity could pump up your file after you ripped it off the CD. Then you could use the compressor or amplify effects. It will be faster than processing it on the G.

It would be much more interesting if you still have the originall tracks to remaster them on the G so you could use dynamics and attenuation on the seperate tracks. You would be able to use filters and cut the noise from the silent parts (if any).

On the other hand the G is capable of importing sounds and tracks from CD's if you have a G with a CD-writer option. Look at page 133 (on the right side -at the top) and read the section on importing from an audio CD. If you don't have the manual download it from the docs page on this site. Have fun and feel Welcome.

Yes - a simple import would be the most obvious solution. Using the utility button, enable the digital import. Then, do the import using the CD button (or was it 'edit'? it's one of the two).

Then, apply some mild compression with a soft knee and gain. You'll be amazed.

Thank you all very, very much. It's all so easy when you just get pointed in the right direction. One of these days I have to get a computer in my music room instead of having to walk back and forth between 2 rooms just to look stuff up on the manual; which I often can't find!
Once again, thanks! You guys rule!
