I am curious to know if there is a way to burn all the tracks of a song to CDR for outboard editing such as Pro Tools ?
I have done extractions with the fire wire method but my current PC does not support Fire Wire only USB currently.

I can upgrade the PC wit a card that will support Firewire but if this method is possible it would be easier and maintain me a master back up.

Thanks!

Wayne

Yes, you can export the tracks to wav. I think you can find it in the edit menu (however - if memory serves me right the import and export of tracks are in different menu's and I'm not sure which is which). It'll burn your tracks putting a track number in the file name.

you can bulk export your tracks as .wav by selecting Tr- '1-16' in the Edit > Export page, or you can export them singly (or as a stereo pair, i.e. 13-14)

i don't know for sure if it will let you span large songs over multiple CDs, or how it handles virtual tracks - i *assume* it will let you span, and that it will print only whichever virtuals are active

to date, CD-R or CD-RW is the only method we have for exporting from the G.

if ever there was to be another way, it would be a user-modified kludge to replace the CD drive with i.e. a flash card or SD card, but Yamaha's proprietary data format means that none of these attempts have worked thus far.

--> dammit, Robbie typed faster than me. 10 points to Robbie

No firewire on the AW. Out of the G you can go the route described by Clive. You could also try the 2816 format. Some research on your part will be necessary to use this handy tool. Not difficult. Extraction tool required to use the tracks is found on docs page of this site.

Thanks for the good ideas! When I mentioned the firewire method I may have been thinking about some other piece of equipment I had previously. Main reason for asking is I have a couple of projects that are not nearing completion for some reason or other and they are just sitting there using space. Not sure they will ever be completed to be honest :)

I will give these ideas a shot and see if I can get the ones taken care of.

Thanks Again !!

That method does sound promising ! I have downloaded the AW Extract program but I haven't tried it yet.
