I have been reading both the AW16G manuals (full and simplified) and reading user group posts to attempt to determine why the 'G" I have only writes the very first stereo track I ever recorded on it. Here is a step-by-step listing of everything that I have done to create a four-track song, do a mixdown on it, and burn "something" to the CD. Please know that this long listing was the only way that I could accurately detail the entire process. If anyone can find the flaw in the list, I would be "eternally grateful" (or something to that effect).

Steps taken to record/mix/burn:
(A) RECORD:
1) [SONG], [NEW]
2) Record on four tracks, numbered 1-4
3) [SONG], [SAVE]

(B) Pre-mix:
1) Go through pan, volume levels, and EQ basics.
2) Verify total dB is <=0.

(C) Mixdown:
1) [MONITOR] – [ST. TRACK] (“St. TRACK” is set to OFF)
2) move cursor to desired track # (this case=2), press [ENTER]
3) [RECORD] – [MIXDOWN], select [REC] (out of “SAFE”), press [ENTER]
4) [REC]&[PLAY], wait until end of recorded tracks, [STOP] button
5) move cursor to [SAFE], press [ENTER]. ‘G’ prompts “Clear current REC setting”?
6) move cursor to [OK], press [ENTER].
7) (verify the mix):
8) [MONITOR] – [ST. TRACK], set “ST. TRACK” to ON.
9) reset playback counter to 0, press [PLAY]. Song plays as expected.
10) [SONG]-[LIST], go to [SAVE]. Press [ENTER].
11) ‘G’ prompts “Save current song?” move cursor to [OK], press [ENTER].
12) [MONITOR] – [ST. TRACK], set “ST. TRACK” to OFF.

(D) CD burn:
1) [CD]-[CD WRITE]-[TRACK AT ONCE], press [ENTER]
2) At this point, song “by name” does not appear in the track list. I can tell by comparing the filesizes listed to the known filesize of the saved track. All I see is a list of names reading ‘EXIST’ with numbers associated.
3) Here is apparently where only the first song I ever recorded on the ‘G’ can be burned.
4) If I run it with one of the [EXIST] tracks, it writes to the CD, then prompts to finalize the media. [CANCEL], [ENTER].
5) [CD]-[CD PLAY] brings up a list. The durations prove that the first stereo track was in fact the one written.
6) Once again, I have written the first stereo track instead of the second track as intended.

I cannot tell what step I either missed or botched.

If you want to burn the second stereo virtual it must first be saved, if i recall. What I mean is that if you have a mix on ST V1, then change stereo track to ST V2, then you do another mix. so at that point you ask the machine to burn the stereo track. It will burn ST V1 because you did not save the song after the second mix was made. That is confusing to some until they understand that the burn comes from the ST track of song as saved, not necessarily the "current" Virtual assignment.

Ahh yes, now I remember. It's been about 3 years since I've recorded anything. Forgot about those virtuals. That will get you every time.
