You guys seem bored so I'm going to ask yet another question. Since I'm starting another chapter in my indie recording endeavor by linking two G's via Midi, I may as well go for a Midi crash course as well. I've learned that by connecting a Midi something or other, I can have it remember my fader positions for me and move them digitally in real time during the mixdown. Anyone care to suggest software or gear to do this? Can it do this for both G's? How important (i'm guessing integral) is the "tempo map?" As I record my music with a natural flow, using no metronome usually. So I don't bother setting one.

To begin with I never used the tempo map or on board metronome, but now I do. During mixdown it allows you to use the scenes at the exact right time with the song geography. As I said I never used it till one day a crucial scene change had to happen at the wrong moment where the song was coming on to the 1st beat in the bar but the G was in another place neither on the beat nor off the beat (making a cup of coffee or something). So in a nut shell..... it's a good habit to get in to in my opinion.

That's good advice and I'll certainly take that into consideration from now on. But what about the sequencing? I'll only be using it for fader automation more than likely. For repeatability. As when mixing down I probably resemble a DJ trying kids bring out even more glow sticks. I'm not interested in the quantizing and all that cuz I love the human side of music. Not much of a quality buff. So any suggestions on how to accomplish this?

You can use Cubase LE for recording fader moves fo the G (via a USB midi interface on PC) but once recorded i like to get the wavs of the machine into a pc and then do the automation in Cubase itself. More options and far easier.
