our good friend mrskygod
extended all an invitation
to chill out at his blue sky ranch
for some musical creation

we came from points both near and far
and my, did geno treat us
to hospitality most fine
(and morning margaritas)

the bbq - the texas flame
it never once went out
ol' '61 and his girls taught us
what chili's all about

the music would start early
and go deep into the night
and on and on for days on end
through darkness into light

geno chauffered us to fishbait shops
for cigarettes and beers
if each of us had had the time
we'd all have stayed for years

but time caught up our busy lives
and everyone moved on
it seems like only yesterday
but now dear geno's gone

he's in the blue sky once again
his favorite place to be
making music with his friends
they'll wait for you and me

it was a gift to know the man
to hug, to shake his hand
i know that we will meet again...
...in the promised land
