??? My AW1600 shut down by itself last night and this morning, too. It wouldn't boot back up last night, but did this morning. After 45 minutes of playing a CD this morning, again it shut off. I gave it a 10 minute break, and it started right up. No data loss or damage. Think it's an overheating issue? Can I clean some part of it? Unit's about 5 yrs. old and I live in kind of a dust bowl.

I suppose it could be overheating it certainly sounds like it, I`m surprised your not losing any data, check the plug just in case there`s a loose wire and if everything is fine personally I would open it up and check the wiring there also if you can, if the hardrive is faulty it would`nt be a problem replacing it especially with the price of hardrives nowadays, but keep hitting the save button to make sure you don`t lose any data, somebody else will definitely give you more advice soon, hope you get it sorted.

Thanks, T.mac. You posted your reply back on Feb 9, the same day I posted the question??? I just got notified of it today, July 12. Very strange... I haven't had any more trouble with the unit, so I guess it was heat. Or the plug got seated better when I moved it to do dusting. Who knows. But I can come back here and take those suggestions if necessary.
