I learned something by accident last week. My nephew asked me to do some voice over work for his neighborhood association (free of course). They live on a huge lake and just began to have weekend band concerts on a barge in the middle of the lake. Can't have large engine boats, but just enough for small boats or pontoons.

I have a quarter out stereo pair cable that I connected to a mini jack plug which went into the input of my computer. The other end went into my Yammie mixer outs. Connected my mic to the mixer and fired up audacity. I found audacity when I was uploading old cassette tapes of some of my old demos to mp3. Works great. I did the voice over and added a music track. Came out pretty good. I'm assuming if I wanted, I could record songs once I connected guitars keys and drums to the mixer. May never find out. lol

Definitely could, you will probably have issues with latency though.
Ways round it...
1-Buy an audio interface.
2-Download a free audio driver called asio4all(the audio drivers built into Macs and Windows built systems are unusable because of the latency).

Didn't you have a line 6 pod or something? If that is one of the ones with a usb, it already has an interface built in.

I do have a Line 6 Helix. I know I could use that. I actually used my computer speaker system headphone input which worked great. Thanks.
