Hey, IT WORKS!! :)

I tried a single song backup and a multi-song one. I didn't extract all the tracks, but it seems to work fine.

I've got a suggestion for an additional feature that might increase your sales a bit. Give the option to convert an AW16G backup CD to an AW2816 one. Lots of people started with a G and went to an AW1600. Some found out too late (after selling the G) that the 1600 won't read AW16G format backups :( (boo on Yamaha). It will read 2816 backups, however. You obviously know the format of both backup schemes, so it shouldn't be that difficult (says the retired programmer :) ). A CD in 2816 format will more quickly load into the 1600 than going through all the button clicking to individually import multiple WAV tracks in the Transport folder.

My programmer hat's off to you, Jeff! :)

Msg,

I would remove the trial version I sent you, and download the latest version from the website. It has a few (major) bug fixes.

Ok, Ask and ye shall receive...
Gee Audio now supports AIFF and WAV extract, and it defaults to WAV (since thats what most Windows users need).
How's that for fast turn-around time? :)

WAV extract is a bit slower than the AIFF extract, but it's still pretty good.

It's available in the 1.1 version on my website.
Just be sure to completely remove the old version first...
Start -> Settings -> Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> Remove Gee Audio 1.0.2

Cheers!
--Jeff

I think you still got some bugs in 1.1, Jeff. :(

I extracted a song from a multi-song G format backup and one of them had the last of one song at the start of the WAV, then the front part of another song.

Also had a problem multiple times where a "nothing" WAV or AIFF file was generated. Just 1 KB long. Might have happened as I tried to extract a second song, not sure.

If I get more time, I'll try and pin down the operations that cause these problems.

Back to the keyboard. :)

Hey Jeff, first I want to thank you for all your hard work, however, I have a stupid question regarding the new release (1.1.2). First, is the "download" for sure the 1.1.2? I ask because when I loaded one of my 16G backup discs (there are 2 cd's to this song) I only see six tracks. Also, the cd reads as full on XP, and on GEE (702 mb), but when I count the size of the individual tracks they only add up to about 150 mb.

Thanks in advance.

Vocalist:

Run the program then look at the Help menu for the program version number. I downloaded this a.m. and mine is 1.1.2 (the latest).

Regarding the size of your CD file and the total extracted track size, they don't have to be the same. If you did not Optimize the song before backing it up, then there may be "undo data" in the song that won't be extracted.

I just tried a 2 CD song backup and it appears to be OK. The CDs had about 725 MB of total data and there were 57 tracks extracted that totaled 571 MB. I still have my G with that song on it and when I optimized it ended up being 572 MB (lost around 150 MB of undo data). I counted a total of 58 virtual track "circles" (stereo excluded) and Gee Audio says there are 57 tracks. Not sure why there is a difference of one track.

I wouldn't worry too much about a difference between the G song size and what's extracted (due to undo data). However, if you know for sure your song has more tracks than Gee Audio shows, that would indicate a problem. Make sure you have copied both backup CDs to the same folder for extraction.

PM me if you want.

If it's about song size, I trust Jeff more than Yamaha.

Man, I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Now when I attempt any of my old 16G data dics there's nothing showing up at all on "GEE". I've tried opening many old files but now no tracks are showing up on the software. What am I doing wrong? I've even tried eliminating the program, reloading it, but still nothing seems to work.

I'd try a slightly older version of Gee. I remember Jeff experimenting with a parameter in his software that decides how many songs it can recognise in a backup. Maybe he set it too high in later versions.

Thanks Robbie, but I deleted the old versions before installing 1.1.2. I've been trying again today, but to no avail.

I'll take a look later today if I can find it, that is, if Jeff hasn't visited yet.

Hmmm, looks like he dropped it. I found a link to the PC version (Gee Audio) and here's what it says:

Gee Audio
Sorry.
Development and support of Gee Audio has ended, due to lack of interest from the user community (I sold only 3 copies in a year!)

Link is: http://www.sillymonkeysoftware.com/gee_audio/

I bought it just to try it. Basically worked, but appeared to still have some bugs.

Thanks, i appreciate the quick response.I found that same link. I was hoping that someone might still have a copy or know of a rapidshare link or something... this sort of program is usally freeware. Does anyone know of another program that works with the AW16G?

There's AWextract which you can use. You have to save your projects in 2816 format. I believe that format does not save scenes, but I'm not sure.

For AW extract, look at the docs page.
