Often, we've had discussions that would fall under a general category I'll call 'When Using Our G & Stuff Gets In The Way of The Music Creation Process'.

How many first turned as I did, way back when, to Craig Anderton's book 'Home Recording For Musicians'? He's revised & updated it over the years as things have advanced from open reel multitracks.

Here's a link to an article by Anderton from the latest issue of 'EQ' magazine (and to the mag's site) that gets into the topic of our current technology and the Right Brain vs. Left Brain conflicts that can pulverize us.

In sum, he gets down to the nub: the better you know how to use your stuff (Can you say: 'Operator Error'?), even to the point that, often, 'less can be more', the better you can keep the creative side oozing its juices.

http://www.eqmag.com/archive/1204/1204_Features2.htm

It's pretty long, and some may get a headache from reading it.

Note: poke around and find that there's more in this site about recording/mic'ing vocals, etc.

Oh, yeah...and an article on my good friend 60's Guy's 'favorite' topic  , Room Acoustics, that got me reaching for my pal Jose Cuervo. :?

Craig Anderton is one of those guys that just blows my mind. How can somebody be so freaking smart? On top of that, he's a really nice guy too. He runs a forum (more drivelous than technical) over at musicplayer.com. Check it out.

I don't know Craig, so this is nothing to say about him...but never mistake education for intelligence. Take Witless Wilbur for example.

Listen up here Mr. DCinFrance!

Leave my friend Wilbur out of this!

That is unless…. a horse is a horse of course of course and if you were busting another horse....that would be fine of course of course as long as it isn't.....

Mr. Ed.
