Here is a newbie question. I want to attach an EXEl file to a PM going to Dirk. How???

I of course know how to add an attachment file to a regular email, looking for the paper clip icon and then navigating to the target file.

But, within the forum ???

edit - since i first posted this, I went to the user control panel and looked in the manage attachment section. Clicking upon some messages with attached jpeg files i sent in June 2014, to see the path there, I was messaged that the attachment option has been disabled --purposely or accidentally??

Hi Byron,

It is possible to attach a file to a PM, but I disabled that option.

The reason is this. When you delete a post, the post physically disappears. So it cannot be found in the database because it is removed. If there's an attachment to that post, it disappears along with the post into non-existence, freeing up space.

A PM however never really disappears from the database. It's only disabled. So, if there's an attachment it will take the space like forever. We have a total of 3 GB webspace and we would run out of space very quickly.

I don't have a quick solution for that but I feel I should find one.

Thanks Robbie. Dirk and I have exchange private addresses, so I will attach my document to an off-forum message.

Thanks again.
