Hi there yo You all!

This 61-year old newbie from the Netherlands wants to introduce himself this way.
Want to pick up making music and recording after al lot of years and found a nice AW2816 (in the past I already had a AW16G).
And, if allowed, I have a qustion right away: this 2816 still has the (first) OS version 1.0.
Now I downloaded the AW2816 OS Updater V1.14 for Windows at the Yamaha website and got a zip-file "aw28os114.zip".
I unzipped the file and am now left with five .dat files and two .hdr files. What to do now? Put them in the root-directory and burn them as a data disk ?
(By the way: I'm using an iMac).
I hope someone can help me or tell me if it's really necessary to update the OS.

Regards, Edgar

Hoi Edgar, welkom op ons forumpje. Het slaapt bijna, maar het bestaat nog! :)

werkt.

Someone more knowledgeable than me will come along shortly and put you in the right
direction.

Those files usually go in the root but I have no experience in this situation. We do have a few guru's aboard who will come along and share their knowledge.

tijd voor het bedje... zzz...

not many 2816 users have been around. There are some computer savvy people that look in, so perhaps one of them may be able to help. Hope the machine serves you well!!

Welcome aboard! Once you get the thing operational i am sure you will help with procedures and strategy here.

Welcome. I have no tech knowledge but hopefully someone will. Perhaps you can even contract Yamaha Customer Service. Maybe they can walk you through the process.

Hope to see you around more often. The place is quiet, but many still lurk the halls.

Hi RZ,

thanks for the welcome!
I'll give it another try with the Yamaha Customers Service (first time no reply; perhaps they find my 2816 obsolete...).
Talk to Ya later!

Regards,

Edgar
