I have been looking at the HPD10 often for making drum tracks but i have resisted so far. So this one can be totally customized soundways ? Cool stuff indeed.

I'm actually looking to buy this unit for recording my drums.



My acoustic set is nice and all, but just isn't practical for my small room. Plus mic'ing it correctly and panning it all through a separate mixer may be good for live applications, but not in my studio.

One of my neighbours plays pro for 30+ years. About five years ago he decided to go electronic too because of the difficult setup, micing and acoustic trouble in all sorts of clubs and theaters. He bought the heaviest Roland he could get and does not want to go back. He even got rid of all his acoustic stuff. He plays something like :

Yes, for small venues you can't beat the electronic kits. Much less tendency to end up in volume competition between the electronic drums and the rest of the band. With a real kit The drummer's ear and sensibility play a huge part too, when it comes to stick/brush selection, velocity and style, . But, even so, you can't beat the ease of set up and take down with the electronic kits at 2 AM after a gig.
