Greetings. I've been looking for a clip on tuner that is universal to both bass and guitar. Being the "frugal" person I am, I did some research and found the SNARK SN-1 got great reviews. So I bought one.

Here's reviews

Why do I need such a toy? I was asked to play bass in a "punk" band and I said yes!

I too love my snark for its visibility and the funky colors. the instruments weak spots are the Ball/socket joints. I have seen two that broke at these points, as one of the little tabs that form the circular socket broke and then the tool is useless. My break happened, i believe, when I left the tuner attached to my guitar and put it in the case. ( I had done this lots of times) The tuner must have been adjusted diffrently and the case's lid must have pushed the tuner, causing the break. My other experiences saw a heavy handed adjustor move the snark in a way so as to snap one of the tabs.

Yeah right! This is two guys from the former group I was in plus a new drummer. The goal is to learn 45 songs not all punk, but in the general direction and play out once a month. That's something I would like to do. But if it gets out of hand with weekly gigs, no way no how. We all agreed to once a month with an occasional happenstance second performance. That's ok. But when it becomes something similar to a job, I'm out!

For now, I like the song list (just at 10 songs) and it's fun learning them.

Punk band? Have a blast, Ron. 8)

Keep us abreast of the happenings...and a peek at your setlist if you're so inclined. I hope you're breaking out the old Gibson for the gig, a la Mike Watt.

Ooh nice mag. I should bring out that SG bass. It hasn't been to the luthier in forever and probably would sound terrible. I'm practicing with this bass:

Set list so far:

Blitzkrieg Bop
Fight For Your Right to Party
Paranoid
All Day and All of the Night
It's My Life
Smells Like Teen Spirit
Basket Case
I Wanna Be Sedated
Paint it Black
I Can't Explain

It's an interesting mix so far. Not all punk, but perhaps will all fit in.
