Just noticed a price drop on the best closed cans I've ever owned--Audio Technica's M50--and thought I'd pass it along. I've used my Senn 280s happily for 5 years or so, but the ATs are really in a different league, IMHO. The price now's around 120 USD, down from the more typical 150 USD. Great deal if you happen to need higher-end cans. By the way, I wrote a review of the ATs there (the one by J. Hanson) if you're interested.

Thanks for the heads up Jeffree.

I'm in the market for a new set of studio headphones.

Like you, I've used the Senn HD 280 Pro's for about 4-5 years and really like them. They still sound great and are very comfortable but the plastic sleeve that surrounds the semi-circular adjustable metal piece that rests on the top of the users head cracked a few years ago (probably from dropping them too many times) and pieces keep falling off. I'm not quite down to bare metal but it is getting close.

Hey Gary,

I hope you like them as much as I do. These cans were definitely a pleasant surprise and satisfying purchase for me last year. If you do check them out, let me know sometime what you think, eh?

By the way, here's AT's site for them. Be sure to hit the link for 'industry pro opinions' half way down. Some good folks there.

Cheers,
