Anybody use an outboard compressor with their live bass rig? What's a good one? Would an FMR RNC do the job?

Bob,

I have an RNC. Great unit.

Unfortunately the one instrument where it falls short with (sometimes) is the bass guitar. If you set the release time too fast it will distort. I believe their own documentation confirms this.

Great on everything else.

Rocktron used to make a couple of awesome comps. Very simple design, few bells and whistles, making onstage adjustments quick. Dunno what they offer nowadays.

Right now I'm using a Behri Composer with my Acoustic 370. When using the V-Amp I always shut the onboard comp off--Just not a very good circuit, IMO...
